Kalvin Philips frustrating Manchester City career will come to an end in the January transfer window. The English midfielder will look to re-ignite his club career elsewhere as he is no longer considered an important player by Pep Guardiola, who has been on record as saying that his opinion on Kalvin Philips is different to the opinion of the Manchester City Hierarchy. It is also rumoured that Pep Guardiola has thought that Kalvin Philips was a below par player for his standards since his very first training session, making his Manchester City career doomed to fail from the very beginning of it. Philips has played a mere 167 minutes so far this season for Manchester City, scoring no goals or assists during this time. It is now looking more and more likely that Manchester City will allow him to leave so that he can get the minutes necessary to prepare for England’s Euro 2024 campaign next summer, with him likley to be an integral member of the squad regardless of his club playing time. Newcastle are said to be looking to ignite some interest in the midfielder with him being a suitable replacement for Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, who is looking at a lengthy ban from football due to football gambling issues. Arsenal could also be tempted to make a move for Philips but this is dependant on the situation of Thomas Partey and if he decides to stay with the club until the summer of 2024 or if he will look to force a move in January. Liverpool were said to be admirers of Philips during the summer however with the arrival and impressive start made by Ryan Gravenberch, it is unlikely that they will re-visit a deal for Kalvin Philips.
