Time for Emile to shine?
Its been a difficult 2 years for Emile Smith Rowe who not too long ago was seen as the next Hale End graduate to dazzle the Arsenal fans for the next 10-15 years. However, due to injuries and the rest of the Arsenal team doing so well, he has struggled for minutes in the past couple of months. There were many rumblings during the summer that Arsenal were prepared to listen to offers for the U21 England international, with Chelsea said to have made an official bif of up to £50 million pounds in the final days of the summer transfer window. Despite this Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has said in his press conferences that Smith Rowe is indeed a part of his plans for this season and that he will get his oppurtunity due to the amount of games Arsenal will have to contest with this season. It seems that the time may have come for Smith Rowe to prove he is worthy of a run in the team, as there are rumours circulating that Arteta may start him in Arsenal’s most important match of the season so far as the club returns to the Champions league later today against PSV Eindhoven. It was likely the case that Leandro Trossard was going to start on the left wing position in their group opener to rest Gabriel Martinelli for the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. But due to the unforseen injury that will make the winger miss today’s match and the game against Tottenham all together, it is now Trossard who is likely be rested tonight for the game against Spurs and Smith Rowe to start against PSV.
